9 Hole Competition

In an effort to increase participation in our great game, last year Golf Australia launched the time friendly concept of 9hole – Your Time. Your Choice.

Following the launch at the 2007 Men's Australian Open, much progress has been made in promoting 9hole golf as a legitimate and flexible option including:

• A partnership between Golf Australia and Member States to jointly promote 9hole golf,
• A dedicated website, www.9hole.com.au, containing information for both clubs and the general public,
• 9hole correspondence (both hard copy and email) with all Australian Golf Clubs inviting their participation in the promotion of shorter format golf events and encouraging Clubs to register at the 9hole website.  By May 2008, 115 clubs had already registered,
• An advertising and promotional campaign to generate awareness of 9hole golf which included hole sponsorships at the 2007 Men's Australian Open and 2008 Women’s Australian Open,
• Advertising in The Golfer Pacific and Golf Australia Magazine and a publicity program which has secured many positive placements in golf media and mainstream news outlets.
